Thoughs on the passing of Sen. Kennedy

On Tuesday, 25 August, Senator Ted Kennedy passed away from cancer. Some reactions were understated, others vulgar. I feel for his family. Having lost many family members to disease and old age, the death of a loved one is not to be taken lightly.

The left however, didn’t even wait for his body to get cold. Already they are trying to keep their majority in the senate and pass the Nazi-esque monstrosity that is their version of health care reform.

Kennedy’s scandals showed that, despite the image of him as a the liberal lion, he was just another rich boy who could hide behind his family name and wealth at the first sign of trouble. While he did serve in the Army during the 1950′s, he did so becasue of troubles at Harvard. His father used his political pull to keep him out of the Korean War.

A rich man from a rich family used his clout to expand government, put liberals on the supreme court and bragged about attending military funerals when he was in fact a no-show.

I loath “limousine liberals”/”cavair commies” the most. They have wealth and power, enjoying it in one of the most prosperous countries in the world and they want to turn this country into a banana republic. One where they are the dictators and the little people (you and me) must shut up and do as they are told. Dressing up like the common man but acting like kings is their M.O. Monuments are built on the backs of the people by the powerful few who abused them. Sadly that seems to be in vogue now.

My father thought I was being mean to Ted Kennedy when I said I could never forgive him for leaving a woman to die. I was all of 14 when I read about the incident in history class. Later, I would join the army. One of our core values is “Never Leave A Fallen Comrade.”

I feel bad for the Kennedy family, but my tears are for Mary Jo Kopechne. She would be in her 60′s today.

EPIC FAIL. Control is what they want, not reform. Single payer means that the government expands it’s fail to one of the largest segments of our economy. The cash for clunkers program is out of money. Social security is almost out of money, do you really thing that government run health care will work? Ask Canada or the UK.

I used to live in New Mexico. It is with great sadness that I found out that their Medicaid program is facing massive budget cuts. Cuts to payments, services and rationing. This from a program that was set up to counter those greedy insurance programs. Medicaid is 11 percent of state spending. Many of my college friends would have never survived if not for Medicare.

See, it’s about costs. Doc support single payer/universal health care because they believe that it will simplify the system. The truth is that government expands to meet the needs of an expanding government. When caught red handed trying to advocate euthanasia, the VA bureaucrats trotted out Assistant VA Sec. Tammy Duckworth. She lost both legs in Iraq. However, by their way of thinking, she would have been given “end of life” counseling instead of being given options for treatment.

No, it’s not about health care. It’s about the left’s holier than thou attitude and zest for control. The lawyers and accountants, like a heartless horde of locusts, will descend on health care. Doctor shortages, rationing and other horrors await.

Don’t look at me Obama voter. You drank the cool-aid, you voted for the One[tm]. When your care is substandard, you wait in line and costs have gone up, don’t look at me. I want to forget that you ever were a fellow American.

War and Peace: What War? (Why the left is made of fail Part II)

It seems that a change of presidents has changed the agenda of the far left.

Remember Bush’s War[tm]? Remember all those children in Iraq/Afghanistan that were beling killed by Bushhitler?
The left did, right up until a few months ago.

Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg has conducted a straw poll of the participants and found that a majority of those surveyed, 53 percent, say they “cannot support a health care reform bill that does not include a public option.” Other results include word that most of the attendees are willing to compromise a bit on environmental legislation, even though it gives a lot of benefits to big corporations, and the finding that, amazingly enough, attendees voice near-unanimous approval, 95 percent, of the job Barack Obama is doing as president.

What’s truly striking in Greenberg’s poll is the degree to which the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have fallen off the progressive radar. “

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan was Bush’s to win or lose. Mostly lose according to the rabid left. The wikipedia entry for ANSWER, CODE PINK et. al. is filled with crap about peace, racism and other blather, but the truth is more about hatred of the US and former President Bush.

Even Cindy Sheehan is falling from the spotlight. Much was made of the mother of a fallen soldier protesting outside of Crawford Texas (Bush’s ranch). BUt she turned out to be a whore for the cameras, seeking publicity and fame over her son’s casket. Now that the left has moved on, she’s a ghost:

“Cindy Sheehan is learning that. She’s still protesting the war, and on Monday she announced plans to demonstrate at Martha’s Vineyard, where President Obama will be vacationing.

“We as a movement need to continue calling for an immediate end to the occupations [in Iraq and Afghanistan] even when there is a Democrat in the Oval Office,” Sheehan said in a statement. “There is still no Noble Cause no matter how we examine the policies.”

It was all about Bush, the Republicans and hatred of the same. Without a draft, with out Bush no groundswell of rage, no protests, no marches, nothing. Except outside the far left, the commies and their fellow travelers in universities and the media.

Even an organization that purports to be for veterans against the war (Iraq Veterans Against the War) is more about coating far left communism/socialism in olive drab than actually helping veterans. From advocating sabotage of military equipment to putting smelly hippies in cammies out front of protests, they have not done a thing for real veterans. Many active duty soldiers coached by anti-war groups have seen their sentences for awol/missing movement maxed. Many of their more public members had no duty in Iraq.

So waht is the take home message? The left is still made of fail. Parlor Pinks who are all talk until actual work has to be done. They were never in any danger or being drafted or seeing their civil liberties eroded. They care nothing about the people of Iraq or Afghanistan, or US troops. They would have supported US troops and ther mission overseas if the really cared about peace. Instead they wanted the US to lose. A bloodbath is sexy to them, dead bodies (any dead bodies) prove that Bush is bad. Now that the US presence in Iraq is winding down and troop levels in Afghanistan are increasing, not a peep from the left.

It was never about the war, it never was.

She lit up the small screen with Party of Five. She burned up the big screen with Wild Things. Neve Campbell was a ’90s icon. Sadly see seems to have gone for smaller roles and the stage today.

Health Care on Life Support: How a sure thing became epic fail (UPDATE)

In the 1990′s, Bill Clinton made a play for one of the largest sectors of our economy. His health care reform imitative was beaten back by a combination of insurance industry pressure and public outcry over a complex system designed by lawyers working behind closed Washington doors. It almost made him a one term president.

A decade and a half later, the Obama Administration is watching it’s health care reform bill die slowly. As before, the left is wining that the right is unfairly stalling reform. Just like the 90′s the GOP is finding it’s footing after seeing red. It would seem that the only thing missing is Grunge music and Neve Campbell on the TV.

Sadly, Neve Campbell is not on the tv or the big screen these days. What is in the media until President Obama took office were vicious attacks against former President George W. Bush. Calls for his assassination, impeachment, riots, and general meyhem were front and center from 2001 to 2008. Far from just reporting them, the main stream media encouraged the left to go balls to the wall raising cain. Favorable, fawning, coverage and outright blindness of the media fed the hate fest:

To give just a few more examples, groups like International ANSWER were never investigated, kooks like Cindy Sheehan were shamelessly hyped and promoted, and we exposed a number of instances in which photographs had been cropped to hide extreme signs, or hate speech was described in neutral terms like, “Demonstrators chanted slogans.” (Then you find out the slogan was something like, “Wipe Israel off the map!”)

So when the 1st Amendment is used by left-wing crazies who shout down dissent, block military convoys with sabotage and violence and illegally seize property that’s ok. Dissent is Patriotic [tm]. When the right attacks phony town hall members with political connections or those who impersonate doctors at a health care debate. That is “Mob rule”, “evil” or the work of the insurance companies.

No, it’s bloggers, citizens and the people doing the work the MSM and Congress refuse to do. Everyday people pointing out the “protestors” or town hall “members” bussed in by leftist groups. A doctor refuses to comply with a Washington Post phone call trying to drum up support for the Adminstration’s proposals. A blogger calls attention to efforts by unions (big time Democratic donors) to strong arm town hall protesters. A citizen takes a senator to task over health care “reform” and wins.

That is the American way.

Not thugs beating up protestors, not calls for violence and assassination. Not hiding behind the law or lawyers when caught in the act. It’s a time honored guerrilla warfare tactic, hide in a church when the bombs fall to make the other side look bad:

Such an astonishing hypothesis was offered by MSNBC’s Carlos Watson Monday in a segment he refers to as “The ‘C’ Note.”

Potentially even more shocking, after Watson offered this seemingly absurd opinion, Mort Zuckerman actually agreed with him.

So even criticism is off limits? We can’t even use the dictionary? The left wants to control the language of the debate, chilling any dissent by linking them to evil. There is even a Whitehouse e-mail drop off for reporting “suspicious” information.

As poll numbers fall, the MSM is, on the one hand trying the “all is well message.”: “Commentary: ‘Death panel’ rumors are false”

But fact are stubborn things, from the New York Times:

THE PRESIDENT: So that’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues. But that’s also a huge driver of cost, right?

I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.

LEONHARDT: So how do you — how do we deal with it?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. It’s not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And that’s part of what I suspect you’ll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now.

Ace of Spades and Tom Maguire PWON the adminstration and the New York Times. According to the head of the administration, an independent group, accountable to no one, will make life and death decisions (cause a casket is cheaper). Just don’t call them death panels.

The left hates having to play by rules. As long as they can control the conversation, they win. It was easier when they control the big 3 networks and newspapers were the only other source of news. The internet and Fox News has changed that. The left hates free speech and dissent when they don’t control it.

We as a nation are happy with our health care. We don’t want single payer, we are not socialists now, no matter what editors put on the cover of their magazines. The media and other elites have a tendency to think themselves into a corner. they don’t want to admit that they are wrong, that the people they help put in office are making mistakes.

As a nation, we need vigorous debate. we need to flush out the thugs and the manipulators. Many saw that health care “reform” was in fact a grab for power that placed patients and doctors under the thumb of an uncaring government. No that people are speaking out and the debate has begun in earnest, the left is trying to shut down the debate. The more they cry the more we are winning. That is why this attempt will die on the vine, just like the 1990′s.

UPDATE: PhRMA, ( the pharmaceutical lobby) did a drug deal with the administration to spend $150 MILLION on an ad campaign for the health care reform. This was done in exchange for favors to the drug industry (so much for cost control). And the left has the gall to accuse the right of “astroturf”.
