The real left

“The truth is Greenpeace and I had divergent evolutions. I became a sensible environmentalist; Greenpeace became increasingly senseless as it adopted an agenda that is anti-science, anti-business, and downright anti-human. This is the story of our transformations. “
–Patrick Moore, founding member of Greenpeace, Confessions of a Greenpeace founder, Vancouver Sun

“PAUL KRUGMAN: I think the model is something like Clinton who, in fact, mostly was just riding on a successful economy that was successful mostly for reasons that had nothing much to do with him.
Paul Krugman: ABC’s “This Week” Sunday, via Newsbusters

I had a professor who claimed that capitalism always has socialism to save it. The truth is that socialism is a parasite that feeds off our freedom and our success.

After the 90’s, Communism faded into the background with Nazism and other fascist ideologies. Rush Limbaugh (for all his faults) had it correct. The left needed to dress up their message, repackage and re-frame it. Hiding behind weasel words and good intentions, they use old guerrilla warfare tactics.

But the mask has slipped lately. Under the facade is the ugly hate filled fascism of the 19th and 20th century. Despite heaping praise on them, diligent bloggers have uncovered the “terrorist left.” No matter how they spin it, many leftist “scholars” are stuck in the 1960’s. They want riots and revolution no matter who gets hurt. They lie and smear anyone and anything.

That’s why we need to keep up the pressure. Speaking truth to power is not a slogan, it’s actually holding the people in power accountable for what they want from us, not just what they are doing.

Like Glenn Reynolds says, I’ll believe there’s a crisis when the people who tell me there is one start acting like it. But as long as the Al Gores and Tom Friedmans of the world continue to fly around in private jets and live in huge mansions … and alleged climate scientists like Michael Mann stubbornly refuse to hand over their tea leaves and chicken entrails for inspection by experts, I’ll keep driving my SUV, thank you very much.
State of Fear, 2011 [Andy] (Ace of spades)

Only the little people (the rest of us) make sacrifices eh?

The left is made up of people who want to do good. Really. World peace, save the planet, etc.
The movement is run by lunatics who want to destroy everything. No really. From industry, to business to our way of life. All while saying it’s for the planet/children/future/etc.

That’s why the conservative’s role is to stand in front of history and yell “stop!”.

Someone has to.

So what did happen to the anti-war movement?

Reason TV and Mudville Gazette offer two different takes.

I think it’s both a function of politics, lack of a draft and the outright lies of the left.

1) Politics: the left and the media (who created George W. Bush in the first place) made President Bush into a laughing stock and a pariah. A huge anti-Bush culture/climate was in the pop culture and the internets. There was a movie about the assassination of a sitting president.

Try that with Obama. The left took the anti-Bush feelings, merged them with the Obama movement. With the new administration, they are on other things now.

2) The outright lies of the left: I’ve commented before on this blog. Go to any right wing blog. Yes the right lies, but with the left it’s not a bug but a feature. “Veterans” who never served, “fake but accurate”, movies, music and tv shows that shill the narrative (but are bullshit). It was like a river of sewage. With the left in charge…not so much.

In the 60’s it was a 3 network pop culture world. The newspapers were the world to many people. So the myth of the hippie and the lies of the left could go unfiltered. Fast forward to 2010: the internet, 24 news, blogs, the internet, google, twitter…did I mention the internet? A lie can get halfway around the world, but will be chased by the naked truth…

3) The biggest one: No draft.

But the reality is that most campuses did not become hotbeds of unrest until the
Boomers’ precious butts were at risk as the Vietnam War escalated. They didn’t
want to end the war because they were bothered by working-class kids being blown
apart; if they had been, they wouldn’t have spat on those working-class kids
when they came home from Vietnam, or tried to make heroes out of the Communists
who were trying to kill them.

Yet as troubling as that may be, the Sixties were in many ways the Boomers’
finest moment. It was at least a fad then to pretend to care about racial
justice at home and war abroad, to speak out against pollution and prejudice.
But it was mostly just talk. As they came of age, and as idealism might have
required some real sacrifice, idealism suddenly became unfashionable.

“The Worst Generation”
by Paul Begala, ESQUIRE, April 2000.

There. Is. No. Draft. That’s right slackers! You can stay in your dorm room (or your parent’s basement), smoke weed and play Wii and not worry about the draft. No being sent to a far off land. Sure, that friend down the street may join-but you’re better than that! You’re a college student/activist/socialist/living off the grid/[insert leftie artist cliche here]…

Why learn useful skills when you can carry a banner? Why do work when you can sponge off your parents without fear? With nothing to scare the youth, the “anti-war” movement never took off. Oh they left tried many, many times…but see #2…

So now the “anti-war” movement will be but a footnote. No music, culture (thank god) or memes. It ends as it began..a bunch of weirdos with signs.

Duckspeak

Posted in politcs, rankers, War On Terror with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 21, January 2011 by chockblock

Duckspeak is a Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck or to speak without thinking….An example of a skillful duckspeaker in action is provided in the beginning of chapter 9, in which an Inner Party speaker is haranguing the crowd about the crimes of Eurasia when a note is passed into his hand; he does not stop speaking for a moment, or change his voice or manner, but (according to the changed party line) he now condemns the crimes of Eastasia, which is Oceania’s new enemy.

It’s a death by a million paper cuts. Remember “cop killer bullets“? Tax cuts for the wealthy?

They mask restrictions with weasel words. “Control” becomes “regulation.” They rant about fairness. They really want to own you and control you.

If you are not a model minority, toeing the party line and acting like they want you to think..well, your just dumb (and evil and stupid and a tool). Never mind that the chief target of this hate is a failed presidential candidate and is not running for office.

When given the chance, the left loses it’s mind and invokes Nazis, racism and hate filled screaming instead of “civil discourse.”

It’d be funny if it wasn’t so sad (and horrifying when pointed at you). They try to make every argument “heads I win, tails you lose.” Language, meaning and even the rules of debate are like putty in the hands of the left.

But no matter, their tactics work against them. We see the ugly left for what is really is. A monster out to control our lives via the state. A monster out to make us victims and dependent on it. A climate of hate where dissent is impossible. Unlike the 20th century, the 21st has the interwebs and the Right-wing blogosphere.

We’ll show the duckspeakers how ugly they truly are.

P.S. Victor Davis Hanson brings up a good point:

The result in these hard times is that our elected sheriffs, mayors, and governors are loudly weighing in on national and global challenges that are quite often out of their own jurisdiction, while ignoring or failing to solve the very problems that they were elected to address.

Quite simply, the next time your elected local or state official holds a press conference about global warming, the Middle East, or the national political climate, expect to experience poor county law enforcement, bad municipal services, or regional insolvency.

Chew on this: The year isn’t even over yet.

Another random act of violence:

Arizona congresswoman among 18 shot at Tucson grocery
(CNN) — Six people were killed and 12 others wounded — including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords — in a shooting outside a Tucson, Arizona, grocery store where the congresswoman was holding a constituent meeting, police said.

The suspect in the shooting was in custody, according to U.S. Capitol Police, who did not identify the alleged gunman.

Hotair, Michelle Malkin,
and Ace are following the story.

True to form, vile lefties are not letting a crisis go to waist.

Everyone’s thoughts and prayers are with Rep. Giffords and her family.

Update: Seems Reality[tm] is a foreign country to the shooter. H/T: ACE

The Game Has Changed

Taxi test

The rules for designing a stealth aircraft came from the work of a Russian, modified by Americans and used on two tin pot dictators.

The research was out there. It’s not like it’s hidden. What was the work of Noble Prize winners is now the work of tin smiths.

But unlike the Cold War, this is here, it’s for $ale. To. Whoever. Has. Money.

While the PLA-AF works out the bugs Taiwan and the middle east may see this aircraft or it’s demon spawn derivatives.

The game has changed, the F-16/F-15 is dead. “Upgrades” are pointless. Older missiles are useless. We need the F-22 & F-35.

Try not to think about it liberals, maybe it will go away.
