Why the Anti-War Movement is made of FAIL.

Yet another loser is unmasked, bloggers doing the work the media will not do (via Mudville Gazette):

t seems an anti-war “Marine” from IVAW has now been unmasked as a lying mental patient. He’s never served a day in the Marines, as he has claimed.

“Rick Duncan” (Richard Glen Strandlof) of Colorado Springs was a prominent anti-war activist who claimed to have served in Iraq on three tours of duty AND survived the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

Greyhawk updates: Real Iraq veterans get suckered into joining IVAW (Iraq Veterans Against War), too. Here’s a resignation letter from one of them that offers insight into what this fraudulent “anti-war” group is really all about.

Hell, even their leader (allegedly a former Coast Guard member) isn’t an Iraq vet. (At least he admits it.)

The message was more important than the fact that this man’s story never added up. Many imposters get lots of traction and marketing from the left because they fit the mold. Claim to have committed war crimes, then go on to attack the country you claim that you love. Be sure to educate as many as possible about the “horrors you saw.” Even better, a tv special, national exposure.

As long as they can smear the military and service members, the facts don’t have to get in the way.

They say they care for the troops yet they slander us day in, day out. This Ain’t Hell quotes some of the anti-war bloggers:

Saying no to war is the most important way to bring it to a halt. If troops had the guts they think they have they would get up and walk away from the most blatant display of American arrogance in this Century.

…an ongoing Spanish investigation is adding harrowing details to the ever-emerging portrait of the torture inside and outside Guantánamo. Among them: “blows to [the] testicles;” “detention underground in total darkness for three weeks with deprivation of food and sleep;” being “inoculated … through injection with ‘a disease for dog cysts;’” the smearing of feces on prisoners; and waterboarding. The torture, according to the Spanish investigation, all occurred “under the authority of American military personnel” and was sometimes conducted in the presence of medical professionals.

They need to see us as the other. The dupes who signed up to fight for oil. If they see us as professionals fighting for our freedom, their cause rings hollow. It’s someones elses fault that the American people tire of their shrill rhetoric. They band on the same points over and over again. No matter that we are the people from their communities, the kids they went to school with?

Supporters and bystanders get hell too. Remember the protests at recruiter’s offices? They are not over:

The taxes that support the Army Experience Center come from a variety of Americans, many of whom – like me – are troubled by this means of recruiting young people. Society agrees that many of them are not developed enough even to drink a beer or drive a car.

This is not an argument against defending ourselves, or against employing violence when it’s necessary. This is an argument for giving kids the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves. One thing we can do is instill in them a much more rich, complex, and cooperative view of human life on the planet – not the good-guys-blasting-bad-guys dichotomy drilled into them by the Army Experience Center.

I never fell for any “propaganda” or ‘good-guys-blasting-bad-guys dichotomy”. I joined up with an open mind. I came to respect the army values. All throughout basic, we were given the opportunity to quit at any time. No one held a gun to our heads. Quite a few quit or were kicked out. The children who visit the Army Experience in Philly will get a soft sell, yes, but when they decide to sign up some day, they will do so without being suckered. The army don’t take children, as my drill sergeant used to say. Either you grow up or get kicked out. Most recruits are older then those mall rats visiting the Army Experience anyway. But that did not stop the leftist groups form marching on the mall. Never mind that the Army Experience was open 5-10 minuets after they left. That protest speaks more to the delusion that the left lives in.

In their world, lies are ok. When caught, they dodge the issue as much as possible.

ith so many new member applications coming through, new member processing was slow. Member packets were slow on being sent out. My speculation is that “Duncan” used his skills at a con to exploit that weakness-building on frustration with national office paperwork issues, he may well have complained that they had ‘lost’ his paperwork. He may have approached this at a sidways angle-using a respected IVAW organizer in Colorado to call the national office and get his access to the website. Is it right? No. Is it understandable? Unfortunately, I can understand why human error happens. That doesn’t mean we don’t need to work at closing that issue.

Well, “activeduty patriot” why didn’t anyone try to contact Mr. “Duncan”‘s former unit? Why did no one come forward claiming to have served with him? Like I said, too busy spreading the message of hate to do real work. Richard Glen Strandlof stole thousands of dollars from a vets group in Colorado, leaving the anti-war crowd with a lighter wallet.

Truly the anti-war left’s finest hour.

Hey, Chockblock, having a few foul balls in a movement does not preclude the larger ideas at play that motivate such movements. I don’t think I have to tell you that the right wing has quite a fine collection of foul balls. You guys don’t improvise yourselves as real soldiers like foul ball Duncan did — you pretend you are about civil rights and all the formerly “liberal” issues that my movement fought and died for centuries over. It seems we on the right and left like to sometimes assume some of our opponents’ qualities. That is a mistake. You guys should stick to the repressive and oppressive arts, which you are good at. We’ll stick to liberation, which we are good at.
