And more people saw the moonshot than attended Woodstock...

Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) was an American astronaut, test pilot, aerospace engineer, university professor and United States Naval Aviator. He was the first human to set foot on the Moon.

Godspeed!

About that Todd Akin fella…

Posted in politcs, rankers with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on 21, August 2012 by chockblock

So it seems that some GOP backbencher opened his mouth and the stupid thus flowed fourth:

““Legitimate rape” became a Twitter trending topic in the U.S. this afternoon after liberal blog Talking Points Memo posted a video of Rep. Todd Akin claiming that victims of “legitimate rape” are unlikely to become pregnant.” Twitchy

A washed up actor wanted Sarah Palin “gang raped.” Wayne Brady had to apologize for mocking Sarah Palin’s child. And a democrat was caught trying to have sex with a 17 year old boy.

And the media was silent.

The media is in the tank for the left. Anything to put democrats in office and keep them there.
$500 million was lost to Solyndra’s bankruptcy and all the taxpayers got was some crappy artwork.

I’ve held that the left will go insane, I think they already have. Of course the GOP establishment likes to front candidates who are brainless. It’s to be expected from stuffy old money “conservatives” more interested in mooching off the taxpayer. That’s why the 2008 McCain campaign sucked donkey balls, they ran a 1960’s era Republican campaign and forgot about the Tea Party. Akin is an oxygen sucker, someone the party should kick to the curb.

The left? A bunch of vile commie punks who will wreck the economy much like they did Hollywood.

Environmental Disaster!

For decades the left has pounded into the American popular culture and political discourse the idea that the planet is doomed. DOOMED!

Because of man (it’s always rich white men) and their mess.

In reality the planet is not doomed, or threatened or in the balance.

“Let’s be clear. The planet is not in jeopardy. We are in jeopardy. We haven’t got the power to destroy the planet – or to save it. But we might have the power to save ourselves.”

Ian Malcolm , Jurassic Park (novel): Seventh Iteration “Destroying the World”

“Just as policy can make the climate crisis worse—mandating biofuels has not only encouraged rain forest destruction, releasing carbon, but driven millions into poverty and hunger—technology can make it better. If plant breeders boost rice yields, then people may get richer and afford better protection against extreme weather. If nuclear engineers make fusion (or thorium fission) cost-effective, then carbon emissions may suddenly fall. If gas replaces coal because of horizontal drilling, then carbon emissions may rise more slowly. Humanity is a fast-moving target. We will combat our ecological threats in the future by innovating to meet them as they arise, not through the mass fear stoked by worst-case scenarios.”
Apocalypse Not: Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Worry About End Times: By Matt Ridley, Wired.com

The above article is a time capsule of environmentalist nervous twitches and hysteria. Much like the witch hunts, this was all hysteria. Pro-marxist hysteria.

No really, the greens are picking up where the Marxists left off. It’s like they are planning to hamstring the economy and western civilization.
From China’s one child policy to radical anti-human elites, the misses keep on coming.

Years ago a friend told me that Global Warming was an emperor with no clothes. He cited the past myths and that the data is not adding up. Seems he was ahead of the curve.

This is journalism?

Behold:

When are drone killings illegal?
By Mary Ellen O’Connell, Special to CNN

“(CNN) — The Bush and Obama administrations’ extraordinary program of targeted killing has resulted in the deaths of as many as 4,400 people to date. Books such as Daniel Klaidman’s “Kill or Capture” and David E. Sanger’s “Confront and Conceal” are appearing thick and fast, focusing on the program and particularly on the use of drones to carry it out.”

The picture they use is an unarmed U.S. Customs and Border Protection MQ-9 Reaper. Far from an armed killer, it’s spent it’s life finding drugs on the border.

Furthermore, the author uses this website:
Lefty propaganda

Yep, America is on the rampage again. *sigh*

Lefty bullshit propaganda disguised as reporting the facts.

Update: At least they fixed the picture…

About that Pacific Re-alignment…

Posted in ADA, army life, army training, guns, politcs, rankers, tech pron, War On Terror with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on 16, August 2012 by chockblock

As seen on DEW Line: Chinese and Russian aircraft.

So the DoD wants to shift to the Pacific. Here’s the reason why they should be worried. The Russian plane has a radar that poses a deadly threat to fourth generation aircraft. The Chinese are putting a real fighter on board the carrier most lefties think is just for show. So a real fighter with their new navy.

And this is why the Pacific is becoming a dangerous place.

BTW: lost in the disappointment in the “Arab Spring” and it’s failure in Egypt:

“CAIRO – Egypt’s Islamist president ordered his defense minister and chief of staff to retire on Sunday and canceled the military-declared constitutional amendments that gave top generals wide powers”

Egypt’s president cancels amendments that gave military power, names vice president: Associated Press.

Patriot Missile Operators:

Egyptian Air Defense Command:

MIM-104(PAC-3) missile: 4 Batteries (4 Stationary (towed) units per Battery, 16 missiles per unit plus 2 reloads each)

Israeli Air Force (GEM+)

This won’t end well….

THE COMPUTER IS YOUR FRIEND!
The Computer is happy. The Computer is crazy.
The Computer will help you become happy. This will drive you crazy.”
— Tagline For Paranoia: The Roleplaying Game

“Under present law, which initially stemmed from bad feelings about Reconstruction, the military’s domestic role is highly circumscribed. In the situation we lay out below, even though the governor refuses to seek federal help to quell the uprising (the usual channel for military assistance), the Constitution allows the president broad leeway in times of insurrection. Citing the precedents of Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and Dwight D. Eisenhower sending troops to Little Rock in 1957, the president mobilizes the military and the Department of Homeland Security, to regain control of the city. This scenario requires us to consider how domestic intelligence is gathered and shared, the role of local law enforcement (to the extent that it supports the operation), the scope and limits of the Insurrection Act–for example maintaining a military chain of command but in support of the Attorney General as the Department of Justice is the Lead Federal Agency (LFA) under the conditions of the Act–and the roles of the local, national, and international media.”
Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A “Vision” of the Future : by Kevin Benson and Jennifer Weber

Ultimaratioregis, over at Brad’s blog has a detailed takedown (he’s nice compared to the comments at the SMJ article). Wikipedia notes that

“An exception to Posse Comitatus Act derived from the Force Acts allowed President Eisenhower to send federal troops into Little Rock, Arkansas, during the 1958 school desegregation crisis. The Force Acts, among other powers, allow the President to call up military forces when state authorities are either unable or unwilling to suppress violence that is in opposition to the constitutional rights of the people.”

Okay, fair enough. However, the Tea Party is a non-violent movement. Unlike the Occupy movement, or the 60’s many lefty movements. There are many domestic terrorists groups, from Skinheads to the radical left and Islamic extremists that have drawn blood at the drop of a hat. Yet the left, from pundits and academics to the DHS seems fixated on conservatives, vets and those not buying the party line.

Make no mistake it’s the left’s fantasy: call opponents enemies of the state and use force to knock’em down. Remember, the left believed that in 2008, George Bush was going to somehow overthrow the government with the help of his Blackwater friends. And that would be bad.

Now we have two kunckleheads, a history professor and a retired full bird, who think it’s okay to shred the Constitution and have US troops fire on the American people. *headdesk*

What we have here is the real civil-military “gap”. The left sees the military as a toy it can play with. In their world, the military is a lower caste used for grunt work as needed then put away. I had a professor actually claim (back when I was a civilian) that the military attracts stupid people. Since our names and rank are sewn on our uniforms people know who they are talking to. Yea really, he went there.

They want to underpay us, give us crappy equipment and take away our benefits AND be stormtroopers. Remember, while Bill Clinton was exploiting the Oklahoma City Bombing, Bin Laden planned 9/11. While the DHS and the left attempt to connect the Tea Party to recent events. All while Iran tried to get nukes and the economy sputters.

In the roleplaying game “Paranoia”, a fictional holocaust has occurred. A domed community is ruled over by the Computer. However this all seeing, all knowing machine has only a boy scout manual and 1950’s era propaganda to guide it’s programming because all information was lost. The characters have a slapstick adventure trying not to be labeled “commie mutant traitors” while trying to do the Computer’s bidding. Of course the players are post-Apocalypse mutants and are trying to escape the computer. It’s 1984 by way of Monty Python. to paraphrase TVTropes.

The left is much like the fictional Computer. They have 60’s era propaganda, a 30’s era view of the economy and a desire to crush those who disagree with them. Paranoia indeed.
