He does not understand the military.

BARACK OBAMA: I’m going to call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and give them a new mission, and that is to bring the war in Iraq to a close. We are going to get out.

Hey buddy, the JCS are advisers to the President. The Senate , including you, confirmed Pres. Bush’s appointment of Gen. David Petraeus as CENTCOM commander and Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno and the commander in Iraq. Source : Newsbusters.

He had backed away for meeting the military:

Obama Won’t Commit to Event at Military Base
By KATE ZERNIKE, New York Times.
Published: July 12, 2008

A coalition of military groups is planning a nationally televised town-hall-style meeting with the presidential candidates near Fort Hood, Tex., the largest active-duty military installation in the country. But so far, only Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee, has agreed to attend.

Obama Gives Final Burial to ‘Undivided Jerusalem’ Statement
by Gil Ronen

( Barack Obama, the Democratic party’s nominee for U.S. President, retracted the statement he made at the AIPAC Convention in June, about the need for Jerusalem to remain Israel’s undivided capital. Obama had already qualified the statement the day after he made it, but in a new CNN interview he effectively retracted it, blaming “poor phrasing” and careless syntax.

His allies are on the warpath. Bill Clinton is saying that we are a divided America, “hunkering down in communities of like-mindedness,”. In English that means we won’t bow down to our new overlord. It you don’t vote Obama you are racist/sexist/anti-gay, BushHittler robot! (I have head a chant like that before, sad to say). meanwhile, Joe Biden (D-DE) slams McCain on Iraq.

“He doesn’t get the fact there is no reasonable prospect of a strong central government located in Baghdad…”

But the Troop Surge has worked. Turns out troop withdraw was not what
Iraqi leaders wanted. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s words were misinterpreted. He may not even wa.t a timetable for withdraw. Source:

Yep Obama, looks like you have no clue.

You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don’t alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that need altering.
