How we blew it…

Let us bend over and kiss our ass goodbye. Our 28-year conservative opportunity to fix the moral and practical boundaries of government is gone–gone with the bear market and the Bear Stearns and the bear that’s headed off to do you-know-what in the woods on our philosophy.

and so it came to pass that in the year 2008 AD, the Republican party would have it’s ass handed to it on a plate. The politics of big government, rich are evil, and the meme of republicans can’t manage the economy are running amok.

Instead of focusing on small government, we conservatives started chasing the moral issues of the day. Like a dog chasing cars, we did not know what to do if we caught one, but by god we would let those sinners know what hit them!

While we fought against stem cell research, abortion, porn, evolution and other “evil”, Obama and the left sold the country a bill of good. Those people what to interfere in your life, we’ll pay off your mortgage and lower your taxes. You’ll get a boatload of social services and the rich will pay for it. While they build a border fence we’ll me kind and gentle to those illegal immigrants. Don’t worry about the bill and ignore our attempts to hide our violent past.

Instead of sex and violence (admit it that was our big bugaboo) we should have focused on the left’s attempt to camouflage their violence and lust for power. The left does not care one wit about the poor unless they are in the voting booth. They cannot pay for all of their laundry list of goodies. If they can’t make a utopia, they’ll empty the treasury until they can.

We should have fought this. Point out the cost of the left’s social FAIL. Show that we have had leftist ideas sience LBJ’s “great society”. His war on poverty (fought with the same effectiveness as that other war he gave us). Instead we we got the keys to the cashbox back in 1994, we went crazy:

Where was the meum and the tuum in our shakedown of Washington lobbyists? It took a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives 40 years–from 1954 to 1994–to get that corrupt and arrogant. And we managed it in just 12. (Who says Republicans don’t have much on the ball?)

We need to get back to the economy and back to government as police and regulation, not as the nanny state. Governments can spend money, enforce the law but that do not create jobs. Rich people with businesses do that. Investors do that. The average Joe and Joe Ann do that when they buy things. Taking moer of their money just pours that money down the drain.

If the citizenry insists that abortion remain legal–and, in a passive and conflicted way, the citizenry seems to be doing so–then give the issue a rest. Meanwhile we can, with the public’s blessing, refuse to spend taxpayers’ money on killing, circumscribe the timing and method of taking a human life, make sure parental consent is obtained when underage girls are involved, and tar and feather teenage boys and run them out of town on a rail. The law cannot be made identical with morality. Scan the list of the Ten Commandments and see how many could be enforced even by Rudy Giuliani.

What has the moral outrage gotten us? You rail and Grand Tehft Auto, Eminem, Marlyn Manson and internet porn, because it’s an easy target to get. A paper tiger who won’t shoot back. If they win in the courts (as most of these “artists” do) that just proves you are right.

Meanwhile Pres. Clinton ignored Bosnia and Rwanda until it was too late (even then it diddled Monica while discussing U.S. troop movements). He let Bin laden escape and let North Kora and Iran go down the nuclear path. Iran and Russia will test this president. If he fails he takes the country with him.

The deadbeats on Main St. and Wall St. will get their bailout. Taxes will continue to sap the economy. Despite what Obama’s fanboys will say the worst phrase in Amercain english will still be:“I’m from the federal government, and I’m here to help.”

We need a loyal opposition to the Obama presidency. He is our elected president. We MUST NEVER sink into the depths of derangement that the left sunk for eight years. No talk of assignations, no street protests, no vulgar humor or foul “art” will undo Nov. 4th. Leave the unhinged theatrics to Code Pink and the daily Kos. Be persistent, be optimistic, never give up and never lose hope.

But most importantly, we must put forth the BIG difference between the right and the left:

What will destroy our country and us is not the financial crisis but the fact that liberals think the free market is some kind of sect or cult, which conservatives have asked Americans to take on faith. That’s not what the free market is. The free market is just a measurement, a device to tell us what people are willing to pay for any given thing at any given moment. The free market is a bathroom scale. You may hate what you see when you step on the scale. “Jeeze, 230 pounds!” But you can’t pass a law making yourself weigh 185. Liberals think you can. And voters–all the voters, right up to the tippy-top corner office of Goldman Sachs–think so too.
